Hiking: Benilloba/Penáguila
From the 14th to the 18th of August
It’s the biggest parties. The ecclesiastical acts that we dedicate to our Patron, conjugate with the own ones of the parties of Moors and Christians, represented in Benilloba by the three Ranks: “Moros del Castillo”, “Filà Cristianos de La Palmera” and “Moros del Arrabal”.
On the second Saturday in July the party begins with the Proclamation, where members of the “ranks”, accompanied by the Band of Music, parade through the streets of the village, announcing that from that day the parties begin.
First weekend of September. It is not clear the beginning of this party, perhaps centenarian, and is organized by the Mayorales, who are the young people who turn eighteen years. From Thursday to Sunday the “Dansà de Benilloba” is danced in the Omet Square, with the typical dress, small and large, and anyone who wants to add and feel like dancing. “Els dolçainers” are those who interpret the music of the “Dansà”. On Sunday there is Mass and Offering of flowers to the “Mother of God”.
Demonstration and sale of traditional products of the area, such as sausages, typical dishes, cheeses, wines, olive oil and the traditional Mona de Pascua. It is also traditional the exhibition of the old looms, which we have in the “Llar del Jove”, where you can see the operation of these machines that have been the economic engine of Benilloba since the early twentieth century.
